The Wavumbuzi Entrepreneurship Challenge, Edition 5, is a renowned national platform that inspires young minds to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Our team’s outstanding performance, earning Position 2 Countrywide in the JSS Category, highlights the creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit of our learners and educators. Guided by Principal Mr. Maburi and supported by the expertise of Computer Teachers Betty and Dan, Learner Champions Ismael and Sandra showcased a project that impressed judges with its ingenuity and impact.
This achievement aligns seamlessly with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), which emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and digital literacy. By participating in the challenge, our learners developed key skills such as critical thinking and collaboration, preparing them to thrive in a dynamic, innovation-driven world. One learner shared, “Working on our project and winning second place made me feel like I can change the world!” This enthusiasm reflects the transformative impact of our programs at Dreams Hill School.
An Inspiring Innovation Tour
As part of the Kenya Innovation Week 2024 celebrations, our team was honored with an inspiring visit to the Numeral IoT Manufacturing Centre in Nairobi. This cutting-edge facility provided a glimpse into the future of technology, showcasing advancements in the Internet of Things (IoT) and manufacturing. The tour offered invaluable insights into how innovation drives entrepreneurship, sparking excitement and curiosity among our learners and educators.
Ismael and Sandra, our Learner Champions, were particularly inspired by the real-world applications of technology they observed. “Seeing how IoT devices are made was amazing—it showed me what’s possible with coding and creativity,” Sandra noted. Teachers Betty and Dan also gained new perspectives on integrating technology into the classroom, enhancing our Coding & Robotics Club and other STEM initiatives. Principal Mr. Maburi emphasized, “This experience reinforces our mission to equip students with the skills to lead in a tech-driven future.”
